Start with your history
Your doctor will discuss your plans, previous pregnancies or treatments, relevant medical history and any tests you have already had. Bring your questions, including those about results that seem unclear or contradictory.
Tests are chosen for your situation
Depending on your history, your doctor may discuss hormone tests, ultrasound or an assessment of male fertility. No single result describes a person’s fertility on its own. The purpose, timing and location of any recommended test should be explained during the consultation.
What to bring
- Previous hormone tests, ultrasound reports and semen analysis results, if available.
- Reports from previous treatments or procedures.
- A list of current medicines and relevant medical conditions.
- A brief timeline of your attempts to conceive and your questions.
If your records are in another language, ask the reception team which documents need translating before your appointment. Avoid sending sensitive medical records by ordinary email unless the team has confirmed an appropriate method.
Discuss the next steps
The consultation should help clarify which information is still needed, who will explain the results and when to review the plan. An initial appointment does not commit you to IVF or any particular treatment.
Coming from outside France
Before booking travel, confirm the appointment type, the language of your consultation and the possibility of follow-up visits. An assessment can involve more than one appointment; do not assume it will be completed during a single trip.
